To everyone who has ever played this game,
I have operated this league for almost five years now and have loved doing it. This is not an announcement of the end of the league; it is quite the opposite. I wanted to write an open letter to everyone thanking you for doing your part to keep this game going. Even to those that no longer play the game.
Season 12 has come and gone with only the championship game remaining. It was a great success and I've loved being a part of it. This league would not exist if there were no interest in it. I couldn't run the league and play by myself. So, again, thank you to everyone that has ever been a part of any season. And a special thank you to Ben, Jeff, and Terry for being a huge part of every season.
There was Season 1 with Bootista winning the title for Ben, Season 2 with Cena winning for Terry, Brandon's three season run before being dethroned by Jeff in Season 5, Season 6 with Ben beating Terry by way of Seth Rollins (who Terry had the previous several seasons), Season 7 with Bo winning in his first ever season, Season 8 where I finally won in a 122-104 high scoring bizarre game, Season 9 where Jeff joined the list of two-time champions, Season 10 with Terry defying the odds to win it all, then last season with The Rematch as the finale...
Every season has had its own story and this one will be no different when Jeff plays me for the ACFW World Heavyweight Championship Sunday night.
During Season 9, I officially cancelled the plans for a 10th season. This was due to several factors: me being burned out, many people not actively playing anymore, and a general disinterest from most players just to name a few of the reasons. However, as time went on, I saw a renewed interest in the game and decided to move forward with a 10th season. And it was fantastic.
Now, we've had over 300 wrestling shows scored as part of ACFW and are getting ready to move on to a 13th season and celebrate five years as a league.
I truly love this league and I love running it. Season 13 is just around the corner and it'd be great if we could have everyone there on October 6th for the five-year anniversary party. If you know of anyone who would be a good fit for the league, please invite them. The cost is $10 per person and the money goes toward a championship belt. I'm not keeping any of it. I do this because I love doing it, not for money.
I'd like to have at least 7 players next season, preferably 8+. Any help filling the list would be greatly appreciated. All they need to do to be a part of the season is get in touch with me, show up October 6th ready to draft, and pay the entry fee. Of course, I expect everyone to be active next season. It's much more fun when everyone involved is actively trying to win.
That was then and that is now; I'd like to use this next section to talk about the future. What does 'Forever' mean for ACFW?
First off, I have long term plans already in place. Provided there is interest, I don't see an ending in sight. In fact, the next five years are already planned along with Season themes and championship pay-per-views. Of course, it's too far away to announce most of these but I will announce one...
ACFW will have a 14th season. 'Season 14: Then, Now, Forever' will start a few months after the conclusion of Season 13 and will conclude with the 2019 Money in the Bank pay-per-view.
Secondly, I wanted to explain my plan for the championship title. We used one championship for Seasons 1-9 and then upgraded to the current championship for Season 10. The current championship title will be used through Season 19. By Season 20, I intend to upgrade again using the entry fees from each season until then. Of course, that also depends on interest in continuing that far.
Thirdly, I am currently working on remaking the archive. It will have a lot more stats and features than the current archive and the goal is to have it done by October 6th and hopefully sooner.
Finally, I wanted to give some more details about the five-year anniversary party. October 6th is the Super Show-down pay-per-view and is the start of Season 13. The plan is to meet up 3 hours before the event starts for a WWE 2K18 tournament. 1 hour before the event starts, we will draft our teams for the season. Then, we will watch the show together. That's my plan and I hope everyone can make it. If not, then I need everyone to at least attend the draft part of the party.
There will be cake, food, drinks, etc. along with anything else anybody brings with them. If everyone does manage to be there, then I'd like for everyone that played in any of the first nine seasons to sign the original championship title and take a group photo with it.
Again, thank you for being a part of this. I've scored more than 300 events and I look forward to the next 300!
Thank you,
Austin
