Season 16 Championship Preview

Over three months of competition ends tomorrow night at the Royal Rumble. Both teams are more than worthy of a championship but unfortunately, only one can win the title. Second place in this season is certainly a good finish but I'm willing to bet neither of these players is even considering the possibility of a second place finish right now. It's all built up to this... one final match... and only one can be the Last Man Standing...
Season 16 Championship
Before the season, not many players thought this match would be a possible championship match. The majority were expecting some combination of Austin, Terry, and Ben in the finals. Instead, we got that match in the semifinal and Madelyn is participating in her first ever championship game.
Terry returned this season, making his first appearance since Season 13. That season ended in a bizarre way as we talked about in the blog post earlier today. What better way to make a return to the league than to defeat two former champions in the playoffs and advance to the championship? Now, he's seeking to win his third ACFW championship.
This season had a maximum of 38 possible victory points per player. Madelyn ended up with 32 and Terry ended up with 31. Both extremely close to perfect seasons. Between the two of them, they've scored 1,185 total points (with an additional 77 from Terry in the playoffs). They have been the teams to beat this season and so far, very few people have actually managed to pull that off. Now, they face off against each other. And someone has to lose...
In week 1 of this season, Madelyn defeated Terry 63-19, spoiling his return to the league. However, Terry quickly improved and by the time they played each other again in week 7, he was the best week to week team in the league. He won that match 40-15.
Neither of those games were at a pay-per-view though and neither of them are likely to be similar to what tomorrow will be. There is no favorite in this game and our simulator is expecting a classic, giving both players an even 50% chance to win and projecting both players to finish with somewhere between 74 and 88 points. Several projections ended in a tie. In the case of a tie, Madelyn would be awarded the championship due to the tiebreaker rule.
Charlotte, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Shinsuke Nakamura, Shayna Baszler, Sasha Banks... with teams like this, tomorrow's result is anyone's guess. Both teams are absolutely amazing and both teams are capable of scoring tons of points at the Royal Rumble. The only question left to be answered is which of these two will score more and win the Season 16 Championship.
