Top 15 Championship Games (Pt 4)

Today, we have two championship games from back to back seasons that had the same winner. We're moving into the top half of my list...

#8) Season 12: Austin defeats Jeff 48-36

This was the lowest scoring championship game ever. And I don't think there will be a lower scoring final anytime soon, if ever. However, despite it being low scoring, it was extremely competitive all the way down to the last match that involved a wrestler on one of the teams. That was Shinsuke Nakamura vs Jeff Hardy for the United States Championship.

This game also crowned the first ever three-time champion in the league's history. Both Austin and Jeff were two-time champions going into the game. And this game was #3 vs #4 following two upsets in the playoff matches. Oddly enough, this was the second season in a row that ended with a #3 vs #4 championship game. The game is also noteworthy because it was only the second time that someone had won back to back championships.

#7) Season 11: Austin defeats Terry 88-60

Season 11 had the theme of "Rivalries" and it was quite fitting that it ended with the first ever rematch in ACFW championship history. The first time these two faced off for the title, Terry won (Season 2). But at the Royal Rumble 2018, Austin got the win. This game was strange for several reasons. First, it was #3 vs #4 after the #1 and #2 teams lost in the playoffs. Secondly, it took place at the Royal Rumble and neither player had any wrestler in the Men's Royal Rumble Match. And finally, all of Terry's wrestlers wrestled early in the show (giving him a 60-0 lead).

The reason this game is ranked above the previous one on the list is that it was much higher scoring and because it was the first rematch (which added quite a bit to the build up to it). The reason it isn't ranked higher is because the winner was determined as soon as Asuka entered the Royal Rumble match.

I didn't intentionally set things up to spend a whole blog post talking exclusively about games I won. It's just how the rankings ended up. On the positive side, at least that means there are only 2 more Austin victories left to talk about in this series. So, do you agree with #7 and #8? If not, what games would you have ranked here?
